Dear CMS Families and Staff: We had a very exciting month! We’ve added new staff (please introduce yourself and say “Hello” to Amanda in Pre-Primary, Jennie is P1, and Melvin in P2), we hosted a Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the kitchen, we hosted many school-age siblings and alums around the winter holidays, and we’ve welcomed several new students. In addition, we had another successful community-building fundraising event in January, thanks to the hard work of Stephanie Flagg and Christie Terry, who are co-chairs of our fundraising committee. The next restaurant fundraiser is on February 1, and it’s an exciting one, as it’s at Carlito’s. So, we not only have a chance to help the school, but we also have a chance to help one of our families by patronizing their restaurant! We hope to see you there! Just a few reminders about our upcoming schedule: CMS is closed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 18, and our next teacher work day is March 29. I know that seems far away as we stand shin-deep in snow, but it’s never too early to line up childcare for that day. Speaking of snow, in the case of inclement weather, school status information will be broadcast via KOMU and KRCG. While it’s rare that we do close, we’ve had an unusually wintry month, and I’m guessing winter isn’t finished with us yet! As I do each month, I would like to close by encouraging our families to continue spreading the word about CMS to friends, neighbors, and co-workers. Our best advertising is word-of-mouth, and we appreciate all you do to help promote our wonderful school community.
