Dear CMS Families and Staff:

A few items of note, as we move towards holiday season.  First, we are collecting winter clothes and blankets to benefit the McCambridge Center.  We do this every year, and they really appreciate donations from our school community, particularly children’s sizes.  We are using the wagon in the office to collect donations through the end of the month.  Next, the December meeting of the Board of Directors will be held on the 17th at 6 p.m. at the Columbia Public Library.  Finally, please be aware that we will be closed on December 24th-25th and on January 1st.  

In the coming days, we’ll be distributing the revised CMS Parent Manual, which had not been updated since mid-2008.  Along with it is a sheet featuring highlights and noting important changes of which CMS families should be aware.  Hard copies of the manual are available on the table in the office.

Recently, our classrooms have been taking a survey of who will need childcare around the upcoming holidays.  We’re gathering this information in order to be able to staff CMS appropriately, ensuring adequate staffing, while ensuring we’re not over-staffed with many friends at home or traveling at that time of the year.  If you have not already done so, please let your child’s teacher know your plans for the upcoming weeks. 

Finally, I’d like to end this letter as I did last month.  We comtinue to have a need for a few parent volunteers.  First, our Welcoming Committee could use a few helpers.  They put together welcoming baskets for new CMS families each quarter (bakers are always welcome!) and they organize events like the potluck that promote school community.  Also, we’re always looking for handy people to help with small fix-it projects around the school.  Finally, we could use some help with our fundraising efforts this year.  We have a committee working on a capital campaign that could use some volunteers, and our Trivia Night team is already recruiting help for our Spring 2013 event.  If you’d like to help with one or more of the above areas, please contact me.  As always, thank you for all you do to make CMS such a special place!
