| Hello Primary One Families!
We have a lot of fun and exciting news in P1!
We continued with our unit on life cycles as our friend's document the growth of their corn seeds in our seed journals. We have also enjoyed new science work and art work related to plant growth. This month we will also learn about composting, begin composting in the room, and we will be planting our garden.
Another addition to our schedule here in P1 is the return of our Wednesday Walks! Weather permitting (at least 60 degrees and not raining) we take a walk around the neighborhood and discuss the spring growth and enjoy the time together outside working as a team.
We also are welcoming two new friends into P1! Sophia transitioned up from Pre-Primary and Ellison joined the CMS family in our classroom. Please say hello and help welcome them into P1. We also will be saying goodbye to Evan Watkins this month, as his family will be moving out of state. Evan will be enrolling in another Montessori school in his new home; we will surely miss Evan and we wish him and his family the best of luck!
Our 8th annual CMS Trivia Night was a huge success! Thanks for all your hard work and support with our P1 art projects, baskets, etc.
On April 13th, the local fire dept. brought a fire truck to CMS to teach our friends about fire safety (thanks to Lois in P3 for putting this event together). Please note we have a Teacher Work Day on May 6th (no school for our friends that day), and our Parent Work Day is on May 7th from 9-1. Our last Parent Work Day provided P1 with a fresh coat of paint and a new and improved workspace. Thanks to all who helped out, and we look forward to spending time with more of our parents as we continue to improve P1 on May 7th. Also, on May 27th we will host our graduation event. Our Chevy’s Fundraiser Night will follow graduation that evening.
Finally, we have welcomed Katie J. into our daily staff schedule from 8:30-4:30. Katie has great experience from many rooms at CMS, and we are lucky and excited to have her in our room. She is replacing Jennifer, who started her nursing career. Thus, she will only be available part time at CMS. Good luck Jennifer -- we know you will be a great nurse!
As always, thank you for all your help and support in making P1 such a great environment for our friends.
Sincerely,
P1 Staff!
