About Our Environment

Play is the work of a child.
— Maria Montessori

"Before three, the functions are being created; after three, they develop."

We understand that young children go through sensitive periods in terms of development. Generally, these periods include:

Birth - Old Age: Language
Birth - 3 Years: Sensory Experiences & Learning Through Movement
1.5 - 3 Years: Oral Language Development
1.5 - 5 Years: Muscular Coordination Development
2 - 5 Years: Sense of Order + Need for Routines
2 - 6 Years: Affinity for Music
2.5 - 6 Years: Sensory Refinement + Social Norms Development
3 - 6 Years: Highly Sensitive to Adult Influence
3.5 - 5 Years: Writing
3 - 4.5 Years: Highly Sensitive to Touch
4.5 - 6 Years: Reading + Math

Our environment and curriculum is designed to support these periods, each child's overall emotional well-being and development, and to prepare them for the bigger world.
