Why I Work At CMS:
I have been at CMS for three years now and I love how close the
community is. Everyone is one big CMS family and we are always looking out for one another. The support system between the teachers and with the families is a big reason on why I choose to be a part of this community. Another reason I love working here is because of the Montessori method. I had my Early Childhood training in traditional public schools and I really enjoy the freedom that Montessori gives children. They are allowed to be their own person and make their own choices at school and I believe that is an important part of personal
growth. In my classroom, I do a blend of these Montessori principles as well as traditional preschool lessons which I was trained in. We do brief, informative lessons that last about 15-20 minutes depending on the children that incorporate both Montessori principles as well as academic skills. Throughout most of the day, the children have free choice of what they would like to work on, and their work is self-directed. We encourage autonomy with every child, practicing the life skills that they need in order to function independently.
