50 Years of Guiding Children
Established in 1967, Columbia Montessori School is a non-profit (501c3) licensed childcare facility with a rich history of experience and deep roots in our community. Originally established by a group of parents, CMS continues to be governed by parent majority Board of Directors.
For over 50 years, CMS has been providing educational care for children ages 4 weeks through 6 years. Programs extend to elementary school students during the summer months.
Hours of Operation & Calendar
Columbia Montessori School is open to its students Monday through Friday from 7:15am to 5:45pm. A board approved calendar is provided to all parents at the beginning of each school year.
The school is open whenever possible during normal operating hours on a regularly scheduled day. In addition to the teacher work days and various holidays outlined below, CMS may occasionally close due to unsafe weather conditions.
During the calendar year, several teacher work days are scheduled . Teacher work days allow the staff and administration a time to clean, organize, participate in training opportunities, hold staff meetings, and otherwise prepare the environment for the friends.
As outlined for enrolled families in the school's calendar, the school is closed for the following holidays:
New Year's Day
Spring Break
Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Memorial Day
Juneteenth
Fourth of July
Labor Day
Thanksgiving (2 days: Thursday and Friday)
Winter Holiday (usually 3 days, including December 25th)
